SC: Third party insurance does not cover life of owner/driver.
SC held that an insurance company is not liable to pay compensation to the owner or driver of the vehicle if they get killed or injured in an accident and the owner/driver has taken only a third party insurance contract.
The liability of the insurer arises only if the insured person has entered into a separate contract for such cover along with the compulsory third party insurance usually called a 'comprehensive insurance cover'.
