Finally the Indian Rupee INR has a symbol. Much awaited and delayed but finaly approved and finalised by the cabinet.
The approved Indian Rupee symbol entry was from IIT post-graduate Uday Kumar and was been shortlisted among 5 other presented for the Indian Rupee symbol.
Hence forth all new India currency notes will bear the Indian Rupee symbol. The growing influence of the Indian economy in the global market has been considered as the driving factor behind this move by the government of India.
Indian rupee now joins the select club of global currencies like the US dollar, the British Pound, European Euro and Japanese Yen that have unique symbols.
