Following yesterday's massive drop of 32 paise at 68.06, the spot rupee started the day on a tentative note at 68.04 as against the US dollar.
Due to fresh demand in US currency, the domestic currency tumble to an intraday low at 68.22.
Right now, the spot rupee is down 14 paise at 68.19.
Meanwhile, January currency futures has declined 12 paise at 68.38 per dollar.
On the NSE, the counter has seen trades of around 2,69,674 contracts, while the open interest has increased more than 7 percent.
In the Euro-term, the Indian rupee has also dropped 24 paise at 71.39.
